Abe

My name is Abe! I came to my foster family very skinny and scared of the world, and weighed just 4 kilos. I am now a healthy 5 month-old pup who resembles a Kelpie X Bat. I have very funny ears that you will learn to love and a personality to match. I LOVE people so much, even though I had a rocky start in life, I just want to be wherever my foster family is and be a part of everything they’re doing – especially when they’re making me dinner! I love food maybe more than I love people. I am 100% focused when my foster mum gives me treats and shows me my food bowl. I am learning to sit and wait for my food before I scoff it down… I guess I’m still getting used to having regular meals, and I get 3 a day here! I am just a happy, silly pup with so much love to give.

My foster mum crates me at night after I’ve had dinner and done my business outside. I hated it at first but now I quite like it, my bed and blankets are in there AND I get my favourite toys at night all to myself. I’ve been learning “sit”, “no”, “stay”, “come” when I’m called as well but we’re still working on those last two. I’m also learning where I’m allowed to go toilet, apparently humans don’t like it when I go inside so I’m working on remembering that one! My foster brother is a large, male dog, much bigger than I am. He’s cool, we run around together, nap together and play together, but I get jealous sometimes when he takes a toy that I feel like is mine. I’m learning to share though, and learning that nobody is going to take my food off me. I promise I will get better, but I need my new family to understand that I’ve had a tough start to life and I’m still recovering from it.

My new family will hopefully be able to take me to puppy school. I hear it’s so much fun! I’ll get to make lots of friends, learn more manners and learn how to be a good boy – all the time! I also hope my new family can spend lots of time with me since I’m a people-dog, and that they can take me for lots of walks and adventures to new places. I’m still a bit timid so maybe we’ll start small with walks around the block. I wouldn’t mind having another dog to play with or some older kids even. If I’m not left alone too often I’ll be one happy pup regardless. I am very food oriented, so I learn super quick when people give me treats as a reward and talk in that squeaky voice. I LOVE that voice, it makes me so happy.

My foster mum says I’m fully vaccinated now so I can go wherever I want! I’ve also been de-sexed, so I won’t be having any babies – thank dog for that, too much responsibility if you ask me. I am flea free, worm free and living the good life. All I’m missing is a good family I can grow old with, who will love me for the lovable bug that we all know I am. Also, I may or may not be a sock hoarder.
