About Sasha ~ Beagle x Terrier (on trial 10/12/2017)
Say hello to Sasha an 11 month old Beagle cross Terrier who is full of life! Sasha is a medium sized dog who gives great cuddles and gets lots of attention on walks!
You may have seen Sasha before and yes she is still looking for the right home, however, this beautiful pup has got some pretty specific requirements and needs. Having spent a long time on a chain she really does not like it when her people go away. She gets quite anxious and can be prone to barking. She is also just SO happy to see you, that on occasion she forgets she is no longer a little pup and needs to be taught that good manners mean no jumping and no play biting. She is learning very quickly with firm boundaries.
Being a Beagle Sasha is very smart and is constantly looking for the next thing to do. Don’t let her looks fool you into thinking she is a lounge lizard! She is constantly on the go, loves runs on the beach and her favourite thing is to play in water. She loves other dogs but can be overbearing in her enthusiastic play.
We work really hard to match our rescues to the right home and in this instance it will be vital for a successful rehoming. So Sasha’s wish list goes like this... kids over the age of 10 or adults only, someone home most of the time, a well socialised dog who will cope with her antics or she can be an only dog with lots of people time and last but most important, her new family will have to commit to training so that she can be the best dog she can be and enjoy family life. Sasha is also an able jumper and needs room to move. Her Beagle traits are definitely not suited to a townhouse or unit situation and she will need 5ft solid fencing, no gaps.
Once bonded to someone with a bit of doggy know how, this girl will reward you with love, loyalty and the biggest puppy eyed stares. She is highly food motivated and wants to please. She needs someone to show her some impulse control and how to focus when the world is exciting! And when that happens she will be a fantastic little dog!
For more information or to meet Sasha, please contact Lauren on hitthesand@hotmail.com. Sasha is in foster care in Port Stephens area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Sasha’s adoption fee is $500 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
