About Taco Joe, aka TJ
TJ has a meet and greet next weekend with a prospective family. TJ is a beautiful happy soul who is looking for his forever home. He is a young boy and his perfect home would be in a quiet household where visitors are not coming and going. Perhaps with someone retired, or home a lot of the time. He is fine with other dogs but could quite happily live as an only dog if he had a lot of company. TJ is fearful of men however with lots of patience and love he can be won over.
TJ is great with cats and he is also very clean in the house. He loves to go and get his toys and bring them to you for a play. TJ is going to make a household a wonderful new addition. If you want a loyal, loving sweet boy in your life, please fill out an expression of interest, which you will find below.
Taco Joe is an active, playful little guy who loves to run around. Despite his energy, we noticed he was limping on his left hind leg so we x-rayed his patellas. This led us to discover he suffered a condition called tibial crest avulsion. This is an injury that only occurs in pups whose growth plates have not closed. It can be caused by a pup being over exuberant when running, jumping and playing. This condition was not addressed by his previous owner, so by the time he was in our care his growth plates had healed and his left leg was causing him pain. He has undergone surgery and is healing well. TJ is back to his normal playful self.

Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
TJ has luxating patellas and has had surgery on his left knee, however, pre-operative x-rays revealed he had suffered tibial crest avulsion as a puppy.
His left hind leg was non-weight bearing so he underwent surgery. At this stage his right leg is not showing any signs of pain or inflammation. Our vet has not recommended surgery for TJ's right hind leg, however there is a chance that in later life, TJ may require surgery on his right leg.
