About Rufus ~ On Trial 2/12/17
Hi I'm Rufus and I'm an affectionate, friendly 4 year old Husky x with a whole lot of character. I'm an exceptionally good looking chap (if I say so myself) with a soft honey coloured coat and an energetic personality. I have striking eyes - one eye is a cool blue and the other is green and light blue. I'm a tall boy with long legs and a constantly wagging tail.
I'm smart and responsive to training as I love treats - especially cabanosi (I'm suave and have good taste). Like many men I can sometimes have selective hearing -
I will come when you call and sit nicely most of the time (when you're this handsome you can get away with being a little bit cheeky!) I'm a people dog who loves being with my humans - I'm very affectionate and love it when you give me an ear scratch. I lean into you for cuddles and I am quite happy to sit at your feet and watch what you're up to. I love walk time and get excited to go out when you get my lead ready.
I'm in foster care with many dogs in a boarding environment. I have a few medium-sized doggy friends - I prefer one-on-one playtime with other playful females or submissive-natured males. I'd be great as an only dog or with another friendly, playful pooch who isn't dominant. If you work from home or could take me to work then I'd be in heaven spending the extra time with you. I would do well at advanced training or in dog sports like agility and I would make a wonderful jogging companion if you're a runner. I've even done sledding with other huskies and I love it.
I would suit an active single or couple or a family with dog-savvy kids over 12 years who are confident with bouncy, playful dogs. Being an energetic Husky x I'll need good fencing and a family who will involve me in their lives and outings. As with many arctic breeds I will need a home without small fluffy dogs, cats, chickens or pocket pets. My ideal home is one where I can come inside and sleep inside on my own bed. I’ve been in a boarding facility for a while so I’ll need a refresher in house training from you to help me settle into family life.
If you’d like to meet me (and fall in love with my gorgeousness!) then please contact Jo on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . I’m in foster care near Morisset, (NSW Central Coast) and am not available for interstate adoption.
My adoption fee is $350 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
