About Ash
NOTE: Please read all of the profile if interested in adopting Ash.
No young children, teenagers OK as long as they don’t get her over excited.
Obedience a must!
No other dogs due to Ash’s excitement level, it could be read the wrong way with another dog.
Hi my name is Ashleigh. I came from a pound so not much is know about me expect for what has been written in my Behavioural Assessment, some notes from that are below. The full report will be given if you’re a suitable applicant.
I’m a lovely girl and really enjoy playing with the ball, I walk well on the lead and know how to drop.
I need to go to obedience school and also need an experience Stafford owner to adopt me.
We’re not quite sure of my age, it’s just a guess that I’m approx. 2 years old.
I would really love to find a forever home soon with someone that is committed to put in the required training I need. I promise to make you proud of me. Please read all my notes to the end.
Note: Becomes extremely excitable, mouth and jumping very easily when you touch her. This test was kept very brief as she escalated her jumping and mouthing a number of times. Lacking in impulse control and perhaps behaviour has been inadvertently reinforced.
Cowers when you put lead on/take lead off, sensitive to touch around neck area.
Summary of Test –summary of observation and testing
• A relatively sociable dog, seeks contact but is unable to control her impulses as she becomes extremely excitable (mouthing and jumping up continuously) when you try to touch or pat her.
• Whilst she seems to want you to pat her, she quickly becomes excitable when you do.
• Cowers when touch her collar and try put on/take off lead
• Nil reaction to sounds or noises – good resiliency
• Some obedience evident (can sit and drop and walks well on lead)
• Becomes aroused easily – may take some time to settle once aroused/excited
• Nil dog aggression evident at time of testing
Adoption Criteria
• Experienced dog owners only
• Nil young children
• Not tested with cats.
Suggested Behaviour Modification Program if Required
• Impulse control work at must (teach her to remain calm whilst being touched/patted through desensitisation techniques, teach place training to send her to her mat or place and finally a correction like Pet Corrector or spray bottle when she begins to jump uncontrollably)
• Obedience training a must for this dog.
So if you think you can offer me a good forever home where you’ll be able to give me all the above, and, in return, I’ll give you all the love and loyalty you could ask for! Please go to www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au where you’ll find the Adoption Application. Please make sure you read all the information on the Adoption page, as well as the links at the bottom.
