Cagney came to the rescue after traveling down from Mildura in a van with barking dogs. Understandably, she was a little shy and frightened, but over the last months, she has truly come out of her shell.
Cagney is a stunning little girl who had no fear meeting the resident cats - all she wanted to do was give them head smooches and in time they have welcomed her. She is very sweet-natured, but due to her upbringing she does not like to be picked up and any affection is entirely on her terms, but in the past weeks she has managed a minute on her foster dad's knee! She loves a head scratch and pat, but only when she is ready. Each day she gains more and more confidence though and she enjoys human company, she even gets up on the bed on a Sunday morning. Cagney is also a little chatterbox, always talking away.
As she gets along so well with other cats, Cagney would be suited to a home either with an older resident cat, unless her future family has someone home all the time who will play with her. She loves to play so the interactions are great for her. She would also need a home where people will be patient with her and show her that people are nice and will look after her and keep her safe. Due to her nature, we would suggest that she be an indoor only cat or have access to a cat enclosure. She loves a good sun spot to watch the world go by, but is more interested in playing than going outside. She does however love wildlife documentaries, sitting in front of the tv watching all the animals and sometimes trying to catch them.
Cagney does have a medical condition to note: her tear ducts are blocked. This only means that sometimes she looks like she is crying. There are no problems associated with this and again another reason we would recommend she be indoors only. Her eyes just need to be watched and cleaned with lukewarm water and a cloth every once in awhile.
If you would like to learn more about Cagney, please go to our website and complete an application form.
