Alex is a fantastic family dog and a great companion. He adores people and is good with other dogs, and although not fully tested with cats, he showed zero interest in them when he was initially introduced. He’s fine to be left home alone but if you have a doggy companion, Alex would love that too.
He loves his walks, he won’t stray from your side, although does pull a bit on the lead at first (he is manageable by his foster family’s 6 year old). He is excitable when you first come home and can jump up if he thinks he’s going out. Foster mum say he jumps alongside her, rather than up at her, though this can be enough to scare younger children however his level of jumping is easily managed by adults. Foster mum says kids are fine to be around Alex, just don’t let them be the first ones to greet him when you come home. Once he’s calmed down, he is happy to be lead around the yard by the kids.
Alex is great on camping adventures, loves running at the beach and the river. He will meet you at the end of the day with a happy smile and keep unwelcome visitors away with a warning bark.
He will benefit from more training but as he is food motivated and eager to please, this should be a breeze. He will happily snooze during the day, especially if he gets his morning walk. Alex has moderate energy levels and doesn’t go crazy if he misses a daily walk now and then but he does thrive on a walk or run.
If you think you can open your home to this lovely boy and provide the extra training he needs, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form.
