About Freya ~ Red Cattle X (on trial 22/2/2018)
Hi! My name is Freya. I am a Red Cattle X. We don't know what I am crossed with, but the guess is that it is something small and slim. There really isn't much of me!
Not much is known about the first three years of my life, but I am very timid. It takes me a little while to warm up to people, but once I know you aren't going to hurt me then its all systems go and I am ready to show you how much I can love you. I still get frightened by noises, yelling etc. but I just need reassurance that everything is okay. Since being with my foster family for the last two months I have progressed so much! And I am getting more brave and more confident in new situations everyday. Mum says that she doesn't think my original owners put much effort into training me - so while I'm not naughty, I will need a bit of help understanding commands. So far I have learnt to sit, and that the best way to get pats is by staying on the ground and not trying to kiss your face. I really do want to learn and impress you, and in return you will get my unwavering loyalty and affection. One thing I am great at is re-call, and I will always come back to my name or a whistle (I never want to be too far from my humans)! I will only ever bark if there is someone I don't know coming into the yard if my humans aren't around - I'm a good guard dog.
I love cuddles, and despite being a high energy breed, I am more than happy to lay next to you for as long as you like. I sleep inside and am toilet trained to do so, so it is important that I am able to go to a home that will let me continue this routine and allow me to be a part of the family and join them inside when they are home. In saying that, I do still love playing outside and will happily entertain myself with toys or a doggy-friend. I am friendly with all dogs, my human's take me to the dog park everyday so I get a lot of socialisation. My Mum says that while I am timid and cuddly, my energy levels are still high and I would need to be walked daily (I love the beach and parks too!!), have a decent size backyard to play in. Due to my high anxiety, I can get distressed if left alone so it is important that my forever home includes another fur brother or sister to keep me company.
I am good around kids that I have met but would need slow, calm introductions so I can get used to little humans.
My favourite things to do would be to play with my foster sister. I am very agile and like to make her chase me, and when she does I will roll around on the ground and play dead. This scared my foster mum at first but now she knows this is how we like to play and its pretty entertaining to watch.
Another quirk I have, which makes everyone laugh, is that I like to take all of my foster mum's shoes (and clothes if I can get my paws on them!) to my bed to snuggle with. I have never destroyed anything, but I like to cuddle up to her things even if it makes me very uncomfortable and takes up a lot of room in my bed. Everyone thinks its adorable, and my foster mum now knows to look in my bed if anything is missing!
My forever home would need 6ft secure fencing. While I haven't proved to be an escape artist, Mum says I am so quick and agile that if a loud noise scared me enough I may be tempted to jump and run given the chance.
My Foster Mum says my forever family aren't too far away, and I really hope she is right because I have so much love to give and my life is only just beginning!.
For more information or to meet me, please contact my foster mum Emily on pearceemily_3@hotmail.com. I am in foster care in Umina Beach, NSW (Central Coast) and am available for adoption interstate.
My adoption fee is $450 and I am desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
