About Blanket ~ Mastiff X (on trial 22/2/2018)
Blanket, as the name suggests, is a cuddly beautiful 4 year old Mastiff boy, formerly known as Boss but the name really didn’t suit him as he’s nothing like a Boss and it gives the wrong impression of him. Blanket is a large sized dog, he has a big sweet fat head and a silky shiny coat.
Blanket loves laying around with his people giving them lots of love and attention. He is a great family dog and perfect with children of all ages. He previously lived with several young children. Blanket isn't a jumper and responds well to instructions. He knows how to sit and wait for treats, and will gently take treats from your fingers. He is a big gentle sook that loves pats and belly rubs and likes nothing more than to lean on your feet. He loves to give his humans lots of affection through cuddles and kisses. Blanket will always lay next to you to protect you. He has a big deep bark that makes him a great guard dog, no one will break into your house when Blanket is on duty.
Blanket knows all his commands and listens really well. He is a very smart dog and is coming out of his shell more and more each day which is a pleasure to see and shows what an amazing nature he has. Blanket knows it’s walking time once you pick his harness up and loves putting it on. He is well house trained he isn’t a barker or digger. He will need good strong fencing.
Blanket would love another dog friend to play with or someone that is home most of the time as he loves company. He is still very playful like a puppy and he gets along with all other dogs and as a young dog shows a lot of excitement when he meets them. He also loves to play with his toys and chew his bones.
Blanket is strong on the lead and will need a man or a strong woman to handle him. His walking harness makes walking easier with him as he pulls less. He will respond to more training in this area and has already shown lots of improvement. Blanket travels well in the car, he jumps in the boot by himself and loves going for rides to new places.
Blanket has become accustomed to being an inside dog with all the comforts a cosy home gives so he needs to be an inside/outside dog but definitely allowed to sleep inside.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
