About Ziggy ~ Maltese x Staffy (on trial 2/11/2017)
Ziggy Patch is a 15 month old Maltese x Staffy breed dog. Ziggy loves adventures in the outdoors! He also likes to be able to watch the world go by and is quite content to sit and relax with you.
Ziggy Patch likes to play fetch, but also loves a good game of tug of war with his toy rope or a little wrestle.
Ziggy has got so much character; his facial expressions combined with his Maltese hair are so cute and very dependant on what you may be saying to him. Ziggy is a very quick learner. He is also a bit of an old soul. It’s really sweet when he puts his cute little paws on your lap. Ziggy does consider himself to be a lap dog
Ziggy is trying very hard to learn how to “sit" although does come to you when you call his name so he would need further training and some patience and understanding while he is learning. Ziggy loves a walk to explore so does like to stop and have a sniff but with a shorter lead he walks quite well. A walking harness would be great for him.
Ziggy Patch's ideal home, would be an older energetic couple or single person who don't work full time. Ziggy could possibly suit an active younger family that is able to give him lots of attention and love. Ziggy would make a really great companion dog as he loves company. He would love a house with a garden for him to explore or an explorer to take him exploring.
Ziggy is capable of being left alone, but just does not like to be left alone outside (maybe install a doggy door, so he can come inside and go outside when you are not home). Ziggy likes to sleep indoors at night
Ziggy loves other dogs and he has gotten along with the neighbours dogs as well as my parents dogs. I have not seen Ziggy get along with a cat yet, so probably wouldn't suit a home that already has a residential cat.
Ziggy is not much of a barker, but does bark at the neighbours cat. He is house trained, although as most dogs prefers to do his business while out walking or on grass.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
