About OJ (Cav17-129) *I'm Free to adopt!*
Are you tired of going on dates with people who just never call? Want a handsome and doting new significant other who loves you the way you love them? Ready for non-stop smooching and cuddling? Well get over here and form an orderly line to meet OJ, the ultimate boyfriend.
(If you are already in a happy relationship don't stress, OJ won't mind being a third wheel!)
OJ is one of the friendliest cats you'll ever meet. The kind who struts into a new home, examines the cat bed you just spent a ridiculous amount of $$ on and then promptly claims himself a spot on the couch. He is the absolute life of the party and gets on with everyone he meets - humans and other animals alike. Dogs, cats, kids - he's cool. He LOVES to be picked up and cradled like a baby. His head butts are out of this world. He cherishes closeness and affection and adores belly rubs. Watch your chin because he does give love bites to make sure you know just how treasured you are.
Basically, OJ's personality is flawless. He does not have any concept of personal space so be prepared for that. But he's so sweet that you can't help but love him anyway. He is utterly hilarious and will keep you smiling with his constant silly antics and overwhelming enthusiasm for life.
Did we mention he's rather handsome and has stupidly soft and pattable fur?
So why has OJ been in care waiting for a new home for over 6 months, you ask??
Well, here's the thing. OJ has allergies. Lots of them. He needs to be one of those kids who lives in a bubble. You won't need to carry an epi-pen, but there's a lot to be aware of. OJ's main allergies are to food and this means several things - you need to stick to his really specific diet with no variation at all. But you also need to prevent him having access to any other food stuffs so you can't have people in the home who regularly leave unfinished food around the place or have other pets who have food left out for them to graze on. He also must be strictly indoor only or in an enclosure so he doesn't go around scavenging food from your neighbours (because he would totally do that. He has very impressive "puss in boots" eyes).
OJ is also sensitive to plastic and needs to eat out of metal or ceramic bowls, though that's not a big deal.
He seems to suffer worse in Spring time when the pollen count is high.
When he eats something he shouldn't it sets off his allergies and makes him so itchy all over that he scratches himself until he is bleeding and covered in scabs - it's so sad! He flared up recently, we suspect due to the changing seasons. Hence he's currently sporting his fancy headwear (which, if you ask him, is a great food catcher!). He is also managed with steroid medication - it is preferable that this be kept to a minimum but it is part of the management of his condition.
We are offering OJ free to the right home. We are also keen to stay in contact with his new family and will provide assistance with managing his allergies if required.
Oh and lastly, OJ is almost perfectly litter-trained but he's fussy. You have to clean that tray quick smart when he's used it, or better yet have two.
So, maybe he isn't perfect. But he's pretty close!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
