About Hui
Potential forever families will need to look past Hui’s fabulous blue eyes and funky white and grey coat. They will need to forget about his loyalty, his zest for life and impeccable manners inside the house. They needn’t even consider his sweet temperament, eagerness to please and love for his family… until they have read to the end of his bio!
Hui is approximately two years old. We believe he is a Koolie/Border Collie mix but could be an Australian Shepherd mix. He is a very loyal young man. Hui has been a delight to care for, he is eager to please and loves life. He spends a great deal of time inside the home if his foster family are inside. He has slept inside at night for his entire time in care. He has impeccable inside manners and would suit a family that wants an inside dog. He would suit a family with another dog as he does enjoy the companionship of his foster families dogs. If he were not to have another dog/s to hang out with, he would best suit a family that was around most times. He has a lovely temperament and would be a great family addition for a family with animal friendly children. Hui is cat friendly, dog friendly and chicken friendly. He is a little wary at times of dogs he doesn't know. Hui likes nothing more than going out in the car. He is very happy to get in and go for a drive! He has a tendency to be jumpy when excited. His foster family has been working to reduce his tendency to jump, so he would need a family that understands and will continue to work with him. Hui really needs to be an integral part of a forever families day to day life. He loves his human family.
Hui has food allergies (one reason he has stayed in care for the time he has) and needs a strict diet. If he were to live with a family, all family members would need to understand this and work together. We have adhered to the advise of our vet and worked hard during his time in care to relieve his skin irritation and itchiness. It would be best for Hui's new family to have a close relationship with their vet and have regular vet visits just to keep a check on his general well being. Being a working breed, Hui loves exercise but has had a crush injury to his left rear leg at some stage in his life. The injury was left to heal without veterinary assessment and care. The broken bones have healed but do cause him bother if exercised too much.
We are searching for a family that understands the absolute importance of caring for pets with specific needs. Hui has come a long way from the sickly, emaciated guy who came into care and with the correct attention to detail he will continue on his happy way through life.
Hui is desexed, vaccinated, wormed and flea free.
He is currently in care in Echuca, which is three hours north of Melbourne.
Medical notes
Hui has food allergies. He has on a strict diet of kangaroo and sweet potato as advised by the vet. We have observed the greatest alleviation of his allergy symptoms to date by adhering to this diet.
Hui has a crush injury of his left rear leg. The injury was not assessed or treated with veterinary care and has now healed. The leg does bother him if used excessively.
