About Chappy
Chappy arrived into care with his brother, Boss. He's a very chilled out, loyal puppy who enjoys the company of his humans and other dogs. He loves to snuggle with his humans and while he can be timid in certain situations, once he feels safe, he will certainly show more confidence. This handsome young man is currently in care with 3 other dogs of various sizes and gets along great with all of them. Chappy loves his toys and enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home.
Although Chappy loves the company of other dogs, he loves to follow his humans wherever they go. He has not shown the typical 'energy' of a working breed dog, but will need a good sized yard (or acreage) as this could change once he hits a teenager! He is very submissive to other dogs and would benefit from having an older doggie companion to look up to and keep him company while his humans are away.
Whilst in care, his foster mum has been introducing basic commands and manners which is coming along well. He's proving to be a very clever boy, and already mastered 'sit'. Chappy is very gentle when taking food and an overall placid little man when interacting with his humans. He would be a great dog for children due to his gentle nature.
He would suit a home with or without another dog, as long as he was made to feel a part of the family. If he was to be an only dog, he would need continued socialisation with other dogs during his puppy stage and into adulthood, as well as ongoing training so that he grows up to be a well mannered, socialised young man. Working dog breeds need plenty of exercise and we will be looking for an active family who understand their needs.
We would love to help get you started with that, so our amazing supporters, Best Friends - Erina, have kindly offered to include a 5 week Puppy training course with all of our Puppy adoptions (up to 16wks of age)....The Best Friends Puppy Pre-School service is a fun and interactive five-week training course that covers puppy behaviours, diet, health, grooming, exercise and play, with an emphasis on socialisation, command training, health and care. Their aim is to teach you positive ways to train your puppy in basic skills such as ‘sit’, ‘drop’, ‘stay’, and how to walk well on a lead, but also how to control your puppy’s not so desirable behaviours like toileting inside, biting, mouthing and separation anxiety.
Chappy is booked in to have his vet work done on Thurs 12th October and will be ready to head off to his new home from 14th October.
