About Sandy ~ Boxer ~ On Trial 19/10/17
Are you a boxer lover? Do their cute little squished faces make you go weak at the knees? If so, you are going to be smitten with Sandy a 6 year old boxer girl who is a total cuddle-bug and is divine in every way. Sandy has a soft and sweet temperament - she enjoys meeting new people, making new friends and leaning on their legs for pats.
Sandy is playful and bubbly - she's active but not over-the-top like some boxers can be. She'd love a daily walk or light jog (she walks nicely on lead too) and then she'll happily keep the couch warm as she can be quite a lounge lizard. She loves to have a sleep-in each morning - however you may be able to tempt her up early with treats and a walk!
Sandy is very responsive to recall training - once she knows you she will return when called. She is food driven so is a pleasure to do reward based training with. She will shy away from anger or being yelled at so it's vital that her new family only use positive training methods with her. Due to her love of food she has been known to "counter surf" so you'll need to make sure you don't leave food out on the table to tempt her!
Sandy is great with other dogs - she currently lives with one large dog and many small dogs and she's good with them (even the bossy little ones). She'd suit a family of boxer lovers who have another boxer (preferably a male) so that she has canine company. Due to her being so good with a range of dogs she could also suit being matched with a friendly male pooch of another breed too.
Sandy may suit full time workers as long as she has a canine friend to hang out with whilst you're at work. She will not suit being an only dog. She may suit older kids who are confident with playful dogs and who won't be daunted by the spring in her step or her enthusiastic boxer pawing. She can get excited and jump up to greet you when you get home from work - what a welcoming committee! When she jumps up she'll put her paws around you to sneak in a cuddle at the same time.
For more information on Sandy please contact Jo on jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . Sandy is in foster care near Morriset, NSW (Central Coast) and is not available for interstate adoption.
Sandy's adoption fee is $350 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Sandy has an ideopathic head tremor - it's a slight head wobble that occurs occasionally and seems to be common in some boxers. It doesn't impact her lifestyle or enthusiasm for life. For further information on this condition feel free to consult your vet.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
