About Tonka ~ Chihuahua x Terrier (on trial 11/11/2017)
My Name is, well registered as Tonka but mum said it makes me sound like I’ve been dropped on my head a few times and a wheel has fallen off. So she has taken to calling me Pickles, Mr Pickles (when I’m in trouble), Hairy McLairy, Fuzz nut and the list goes on but Pickle is the favourite.
A few things about me:
- Age: About 6 – 7 months is anyone’s guess
- I LOVE FUN !!, playing, walks, toys, balls, balls, balls and snuggles and cuddles oh and rides in the car and general all round adventures
- Things that I love but mum calls me Mr Pickles over are digging holes, chewing her car (inside soft bits), toys, and anything else I can get my chompers on.
- Oh I also LOOVE toilet rolls but make sure you have a spare couple of full rolls close at hand because if you are taking too long using up the paper I am more than happy just to take the full roll
- And I sleep on the end of mum's bed and if it gets a little chilly I will hop under the blankets with you so if that grosses you out.
- I also do the odd poo inside which could be related to me spending all day every day locked in a laundry at one place I was living while no one was home. Sorry.
- I really looovve cats. Love to chase them, bail them up, love to catch them. Don't quite know what I'd do if I caught them. I wonder if they taste like chicken?
My start to life wasn’t very nice and don’t start mum on that one! She has opinions on that. From there I was rescued; loved and looked after until family reasons I was given to a friend and passed to another friend and then my mum rescued me. Since then I have known nothing but love, warmth, cleanliness, snuggles, happiness and food oh glorious food.
---------
Hello I’m Pickle’s mum. He is definitely a very lovable, frustrating, annoying, snuggly character. He has a love for shoes but thank goodness he hasn’t started to chew them. I think that it’s more of a comfort thing when I’m not home. He barks like an old man that has been smoking all his life and eats like a hobbit: 1st breakfast, second breakfast and so on. And guard your cuppa because he will plonk his foot in it, drop a toy in it while he is enjoying you sitting spending time with him. He has zero regard for personal space.
He still has 1 razor sharp baby tooth that the vet said should fall out or need to be removed at some stage but we can talk about that later. He is a sensitive little soul that quite frankly looks like a science experiment gone wrong: Long gangly legs, eyes that seem too far apart almost fish like, little tiny head, long slim body and hair that is just all over the shop. Definitely makes my bed hair look quite stylish.
I believe he will be suited to a family young or teenage children but most definitely responsible disciplined children. My daughter is 6 and I can absolutely trust Pickle’s safety and well being with her if I am not present. I have seen other “well behaved children” with dogs who seem to think it’s ok to rough house with them and have an absolute disrespect for the dogs safety all the while the parents say nothing. Pickle is too small and easily hurt by irresponsible reckless behaviour.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
