Meet Kalli! This beautiful girl is sweet natured with a gorgeous personality that seems to shine brighter by the day. She’s adapting to life in foster care quickly, and has been working hard to break down the barriers to love from her previous life. She is still learning to trust adults, and although you can see by the furious wag of her tail and full bum wiggle that Kalli desperately wants to snuggle and be petted, she is still a little spooked by fast movement towards her or picking her up. Ideally, she will need a compassionate, kind, and patient family willing to love and guide her gently.
Kalli’s first week in care was a busy one, she’s learnt to sit on command, wait for food, was toilet trained, and knows how to use the doggie door to take herself out. She also met lots of little people at a 1st bday party and was ever so gentle with all the kids. She doesn’t bite, jump, or get too over-excited, and doesn’t appear to be afraid of children the way she is of adults which is fantastic. Kalli confidently interacts with dogs of all ages, and she also met a cat! Although she was more interested in playing with her puppy pal. She simply adores her foster brother and sister and while she relishes a game of tiggy with them, playing quietly with toys, teddy’s, or balls, rates right up there on her favourite activity list. With all this love and attention Kalli is thriving, and seems to be finding her voice. Although she’s not a problem barker, she will make a wonderful guard dog as an older adult.
Importantly, Kalli is highly intelligent and as a working breed she will require daily walks and mental stimulation to ensure her good behavior continues. Puppy training would be a wonderful way to get to know each other and learn new skills together. Not only will Kalli benefit from taking part with you, she will enjoy the quality time you spend together training and building trust.
