About Super sweet Sally (Cav17-148)
Sally is an absolute little darling who has a loyal and loving heart that seeks a compassionate and patient person to give her the life she deserves.
Typical story - Sally was born on a farm to someone who didn't see the value in desexing their cat. She and her siblings were never handled and consequently grew up terrified of people because we are so foreign. At 12 weeks old she and her brother were taken to the local feed store by the farmer, hoping that they could find homes. He had shot their 2 siblings and said he would shoot these 2 if they didn't take them.
Fortunately, the staff there called us at SAFE and we were able to give the kittens a second chance at a life where they were respected and valued. Sally's brother was much more confident and social, and found a home a long time ago. Sally was petrified and feared being hurt by people so she responded the only way she knew - but lashing out before we had a chance to!
It has taken a long time and a lot of dedicated love from her foster carers but Sally finally allows herself to be touched and actually enjoys pats and human company.
She still has a LONG way to go and her new family needs to understand that. She will need to be contained in a small area, for weeks or months while she settles in. You probably won't see her for the first week or more that she is in your home, but it is your job to force your love on her. With time and patience and lots of treats, Sally will come to trust you and will become an affectionate, loyal companion. She will probably never be a cat who makes friends with visitors. She definitely isn't suited to a home with small children, but we would prefer she be adopted either with her buddy Warlock, or to a home with an existing cat she can be friends with.
Dogs are a maybe (a quiet, easy-going dog would be okay but not one who is too intense or would get in her face too much).
Sally is absolutely stunning with her shiny black coat and huge ruff of fur around her neck. She has a beguiling look in her golden eyes. She's so worth the hard work!
*Currently located in Northam but can come to Midland for meetings*
Medical notes
As a kitten Sally had an untreated respiratory infection and had conjunctivitis associated with this. It was treated and she made a full recovery, but as a consequence she has a permanently weepy eye. Some days it isn't noticeable, other days she looks like she's crying from one eye. Stress makes it worse, so when she first comes to a new home it will likely flare up but then settle down again.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
