About Valerie
Hi my name is Valerie! I came into care with three little kelpie boys. Not much is known about my past, all we know is that I didn't have much of a life at all before coming into care.
All that matters now is that I am safe with OTC and it is only up from here.
Please don't apply for me just because I am a labrador cross, because I am so much more than that. A lot of people will apply for me because of my breed but you must know some more about me before you do.
I won't be the kind of dog you can take to family events and to the park for a walk. I will be too scared for that. I am very shy and I get terrified in certain situations. I'd much rather stay at home with you and snuggle up and play in the backyard. I would definitely prefer to have a doggy friend and maybe a mummy or dad that doesn't work full time, because I do get lonely. I settle down eventually but these conditions would make me happy. I just don't want to be alone.
I am shy and uncertain of new people and places at first, but you just need to be patient with me. Because once I do warm up, I become the most loving, sweetest girl you will ever meet.
I like to sleep inside but I am really good outside too. If I am out during the day I would prefer toys and games to keep me busy. I am good with other dogs, I've been around kids but I haven't been around cats yet since being in care!
I don't ask for much. Just a nice warm bed inside away from the monsters and a family that will love me like I deserve. Understand that I have been through hell and that I will love you so much for saving me
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
