About Basil (Located in East Melbourne)
Basil is the full package; handsome, chatty, big green eyes and always waiting for you to return home to fill his daily quota of cuddles.
When he is not napping in the sun or flopping over for a tummy rub or back scratch, he is likely up for a play or just enjoying being in the same room as you. Basil has been an indoor cat during his foster care and spends lots of his time gazing out the window. He would best suit a large home with a little room for him to move, or a house with an outdoor cat enclosure. He also gets along with other cats so would make the purrfect roommate for other cats. Basil is a beautiful companion who has brought a lot of joy to our home, he is quite the heart-melter and will have you wrapped around his paw in no time!

Medical notes
The adoption fee includes de-sexing, micro-chip, current vaccination, flea and worm treatment while in care.
Basil is FIV positive. FIV positive cats live a normal life for many many years and we unfortunately cannot predict the life span of these cats. FIV positive cats sometimes have a scruffy coat and the condition can lead to chronic recurrent infections in the mouth, eye and skin. Feline AIDS cannot infect people, however it can infect other cats through bite wounds commonly from fights. FIV positive cats can co-exist with other cats that don't have FIV without issues. We encourage that Basil is either an indoor cat or a confined cat eg access to a cat run outdoors. We recommend regular vet visits (6 monthly) to monitor weight, coat changes, mouth etc.
Basil has experienced issues with his mouth and teeth. He has had a dental procedure and medication. Our vets are confident that this issue is resolved however caution that due to his FIV+ status issues may arise in future requiring veterinary care.
No other known health issues.
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue would like to help ensure you and your new companion/s have a long and happy life together. Please be advised that if you should find that you are not a purrfect match, or if you need to rehome your new pet at any stage of its life, Maneki Neko Cat Rescue will take the cat back into care and find a new home.
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue provides a 7 day health warranty on all adoptions. Although all our cats and kittens are health checked prior to adoption, sometimes the stress of a new environment can upset their immune system
