On Hold
About Gerard
Gerard is a laid back dog, and bonds very quickly to his human.
He has the personality of a wolfhound and has the face and hair and demanor of a wolfhound, but the is the size of a medium size Terrier.
So if you love wolfhounds but the size has deterred you, Gerard is the boy for you.
We busted him out of a pound on the 17th September with horrific ear infections and painful infected skin condition.
But within a week of medications and a raw diet, this boy has done a 180'.
He still is missing patches of hair but we have seen bum fluff appearing already.
He is a perfect gentleman with other dogs, and humans.
But He has a HUGE dislike to Cats, vacuum cleaners, whipper snippers and lawn mowers.
He does need a home with at least a 4 foot fence.
Gerard would be a great companion dog, for a family or person that is home a lot as he just loves the company.
If you are working or out of home, he does need a companion.
We find by leaving a radio on out the back and giving him a pigs ear, his not aware we have gone out.
He just wants to be with you, and hanging out with his family.
For a dog that is only 2 he is not that active, not sure if it's from all his ear and skin issues or he just likes to lounge around?
He does have some little quirks that need some training, but he has picked up manners, just the short time he has been in foster care.
This boy doesn't have a mean bone in his body and would make a great companion for someone that is devoted to him.
Medical notes
He has come to us with ear and skin yeast infections.
But within the week we have got on top of it.
He is on a raw diet and believe he needs to stay on that to help with his skin.
He just has been neglected in the past of treating this preventable skin problem.
Adoption details
We shortlist families who will fit the dogs needs and contact them to arrange an introduction. If everything works well, after a timeout to be sure, an adoption agreement is completed. As the adoption donation is transferred the dog will pass into your hands.
Our Adoption Donation Fees vary. Elderly animals or animals with health problems can differ from those for young or purebred dogs.
All our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and treated for fleas. They are bathed and groomed, and have had a consultation with our vet who discusses appropriate treatment which we arrange while the dog is in our care. All dogs are desexed at our expense.
We understand that in the first week, issues occasionally occur where training or behaviour modification is impractical and if no other recourse is available and the dog needs to be rehomed, we will agree to refund part of the adoption fee less $100 administration fee. Due to our system processes this will not be instantaneous but will go into your bank account within the next 10 working days.
After the sixth day, we require first refusal if the dog is to be found a different home, but you will not be eligible for a refund.
