About River
River is a 5-year-old female Malamute x Staffy, she has impeccable manners and knows all her commands very well - although you may have to be firm about them the first couple of days as she does like to test her boundaries. She can sit, stay, drop, crawl, roll over and a lot more! She is a very intelligent girl. River has just recently come into care and due to this is bit more anxious than because of all the changes so, for now, she is best in a home where she won’t be left for extended period, at least initially. However, if you do leave her is she is very well behaved so long as she’s left inside. River is also fantastic to walk on the lead! Again, she will like to test her boundaries initially, but with consistency she soon learns who’s boss. She also likes to go for runs, and has so far managed a 5km one! Although she is also just as happy to sleep all day. River is great with cats, her current foster home has a kitty who is not too sure about River however River is very good and patient, she copped a few swipes when she’s sniffed to close, but has always managed these well and learnt it means to back off. She does need a little more time when it comes to dogs; she has previously lived with another dog, however recent introductions haven’t gone to well, so someone that can put a bit of time into doggy intros (if you need her to be around other dogs) would be a must. If she’s going to a non-dog home than then just an awareness of other dogs when walking would be important, unfortunately River isn’t ready for a dog park just yet. River loves nothing more than sitting beside you (even if it means coming into the shower!!!) and having a cuddle on the couch or in bed. She loves all games including tug of war and fetch and if you are willing to put a bit of time and energy into her, she will give you a million times in return.
Medical notes
River is a happy healthy dog who is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments
