Sputnik (D3664)

Hello World! I’m Sputnik and my foster carer says I’m a great little dog. I was born for companionship. And I most especially love older ladies, although I really like The Man who looks after me too and like sleeping on his chair. If you’re the sort of person who’d love to be followed around all day, I’m the dog for you. I’ll fret and whimper if you’re not there. But having another nice natured dog who’ll be my gentle boss would really help with that. I could be friends with them and cuddle up to sleep with them at night so I’m not on your bed ;) That’s what happens in my foster home and I’m so happy living that way.

I won’t get under your feet. I used to come in a bit close in the kitchen where there’s FOOD. But now I’ve almost mastered sitting on “my spot” in the kitchen when food is being prepared. I loooooove food, any food! So it makes training fun. There are cats here too and they’re OK. The scared one doesn’t mind me and the big one - well, he’s definitely the boss.

I’m a bit nervous about being picked up, so I don’t think I’d like to live with children. But if you had very gentle children visiting, I’d be fine with them - especially if they give me some treats :) I’m very careful when I take food from hands and I don’t mind sharing my food either. Instead of being picked up, I prefer to jump up. And I loooooove to do that! Whenever you sit down, I’ll jump up on your lap for a cuddle and some fussing. That really is the best! I like a play with a small ball too. And my carer is teaching me not to nip when I get excited with play.

My eyes were a bit weepy when I came to SAFE but I’ve been checked by the vet and they’re clearing up really well.

If you live far away, a few hours in a plane is absolutely worth it for remotely located animals like me - it means we have the opportunity to be adopted. Flights to Perth for dogs are capped at $150 thanks to QANTAS - although I’m small, so it will be cheaper than that for me - and I can fly elsewhere in Australia too.
