About Maverick ~ Mastiff X puppy (on trial 24/9/2017))
Maverick is an 8 week old, male, Mastiff X puppy.
This little chunk of spunk is Maverick from our litter of Ruby’s pups. We have listed him as a Mastiff cross, because well, we really have no idea what breed his dad was. We know his mum is a Kelpie cross, but Maverick could well pass as a Rotti and is going to be a big boy! He currently has stocky legs, but we expect him to be a large size when fully grown.
Maverick has been in care since he was 2 days old. From the moment he opened his eyes and could walk he has been a little gentleman. He loves to cuddle and will wait his turn for pats. He dearly loves his brothers and sisters and would love to have a big dog to play with in his forever home. He will be considered as an only dog, as long as someone is home with him most of the time while he’s young.
Maverick has hit the jackpot as is currently being minded by a trainer until old enough for adoption. He is learning to sleep in a crate at night which means he has a head start in toilet training! He is being socialised with 3 big dogs and learning to confidently explore the world. We highly recommend that all puppies are taken to puppy school by their new families, to teach them what is expected and how to behave both inside and outside the home.
Maverick is going to need a large sized yard with secure gates and fencing and must be allowed to sleep inside at least until fully grown. As he is going to be a big dog, any children in his family will need to be confident to deal with his playfulness while he is still a puppy. He is very gentle, but all pups explore the world with their teeth and Maverick is no different. Maverick will need to be fed 4 times a day until he is 3 months old, so if your household is out all day, please consider a slightly older dog and not a baby pup.
Maverick's siblings Hallie and Maggie are also available for adoption.
As Maverick is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Maverick, please contact his foster mum Lauren on hitthesand@hotmail.com. Maverick is in foster care in Port Stephens.
Maverick's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
