About Maggie ~ Mastiff X puppy (on trial 25/9/2017)
Maggie is an 8 week old, female, Mastiff X puppy.
This (not so little) girl is so sweet, she really should come with a warning. Meet Maggie. The long legged, velvet roll covered, chilled out sweetheart from our litter of Ruby’s pups. We have listed her as a Mastiff cross, because well, we really have no idea what breed her dad was. We know her mum is a Kelpie cross, but Maggie is going to be a big girl!
Maggie has been in care since she was 2 days old. From the moment she opened her eyes and could walk she has just had the sweetest nature. She loves to cuddle and will nuzzle into your neck. She dearly loves her brothers and sisters and would love to have a big dog to play with in her forever home. She will be considered as an only dog, as long as someone is home with her most of the time while she’s young.
Maggie has hit the jackpot as is currently being minded by a trainer until old enough for adoption. She is learning to sleep in a crate at night which means she has a head start in toilet training! She is being socialised with 3 big dogs and learning to confidently explore the world. We highly recommend that all puppies are taken to puppy school by their new families, to teach them what is expected and how to behave both inside and outside the home.
Maggie is going to need a large sized yard with secure gates and fencing and must be allowed to sleep inside at least until fully grown. As she is going to be a big dog, any children in her family will need to be confident to deal with her playfulness while she is still a puppy. She is very gentle, but all pups explore the world with their teeth and Maggie is no different. Maggie will need to be fed 4 times a day until she is 3 months old, so if your household is out all day, please consider a slightly older dog and not a baby pup.
Maggie's siblings Hallie and Maverick are also available for adoption.
As Maggie is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Maggie, please contact her foster mum Lauren on hitthesand@hotmail.com. Maggie is in foster care in Port Stephens.
Maggie's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
