About Henry ~ Maltese X (on trial 3/11/2017)
Hello, my name is Henry and I am a 6 year old Maltese cross. I am really hoping that I can find a loving family to care for me. I have been desexed and all of my worm and flea treatments are up to date, as well as my vaccinations. My foster carer says that I am a really funny boy who is full of personality. She gives me a weekly brush to keep me looking great! I am in good health and looking forward to meeting my new family.
I adore children so a family who have children over eight years who are responsible with dogs would be great! I really enjoy a game of tug and I can chase a ball and bring it back in a flash (sometimes). I presently live with 8 other dogs, some smaller than me and one bigger. I get on quite well with them all, although I am a bit energetic for the older ones. I also reside with a hen and a rabbit but I am really not suited to small pets as I want to play with them.
My foster carer has a nice bed for me so that I can feel comfortable inside regardless of the weather. There is a doggy door at my carer’s home and I use it for those calls of nature. Although I am an inside dog, I don’t mind spending some time outside when the weather is good, in fact I have two days a week outside and I rarely bark or make a fuss.
I enjoy my walks and the experiences in the outside world. I am learning to walk very nicely on my lead and the sounds of traffic and other dogs are of no concern. In fact even the fireworks and storms don’t trouble me. I am not a fussy eater but really if I could be indulged with an occasional bone I would be ever so happy!
I come when I am called and will sit when asked. I adore belly rubs and pats! My foster carer has spent three months with me and knows me quite well now. She thinks that I would appeal to a variety of homes. I am happy to lounge around all day or play, I would make a great companion for someone who likes to go for walks or for older children who would play with me and be respectful of my age because I can be a handful when I am over excited. My foster Mum thinks that I am really bright and some training would be of great benefit to me.
I am an excellent climber but do not jump or dig at all so I will need fencing that isn't necessarily high but has no foot-holds for me to climb.
If you think that we suit one others lifestyle Then you can contact my foster carer by email anne_mccondach_3@hotmail.com, I am so excited about meeting you!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
