Storm

Storm is a lovely Mallie girl with a sweet temperament who has reluctantly been surrendered due to her owner's health issues making it no longer possible for them to look after her.

She is a very human-focussed girl who loves attention and will require access to inside the house as well as enjoying being outdoors. She is quite a big girl even for the breed, and her coat is longer than the standard Malamute coat so she will require very regular brushing to keep her coat in good condition. If you don't enjoy grooming a dog, then Storm is not the girl for you.

Storm has been living as an only dog and has had limited interaction with other dogs, so she would be suited to a new home where she will be an only dog. She may tolerate a home with a desexed male dog of similar size, however a "meet & greet" would be required to assess if they are likely to get along, and of course they would need to be separated whenever there is food around to avoid fights.

As with most Malamutes, Storm has a very high prey drive so would not be suited to a home with small animals, cats, pocket pets or livestock.

Although she is not known to be an escape artist, as with any Malamute she may enjoy excavating the garden and may dig her way out under fences. Fencing would need to be secure and at least 5 foot in height to keep her safe, and gates would need to be kept shut as the Malamutes' instinct to hunt and roam would mean she won't hang around if given the opportunity to get out of the yard. As with any Malamute, to keep her from getting bored she will require lots of activity, exercise and walks, and of course must always be kept on lead as she won't necessarily come when called.

Due to her large size, strength and exuberance, she will also require a home where any children are teens or older.

Don't be fooled by her good looks and sweet face, Storm is a mallie girl and with that come some challenges that will require a home where the owners are experienced with Malamutes or other large breeds.
