About Augustus
Our boy Gussy was born in the pound along with his two brothers. They had the best start to life with premium nutrition, exceptional health care and an emphasis on socialisation.
Augustus was adopted out at 12 weeks of age to a lovely young couple but unfortunately due to work commitments they had to move Gussy into a small rented yard.
Our active, intelligent and people oriented mate was just not being stimulated enough and as a result they had no choice but to return him to our care.
At two years old Gussy is in the prime of his life. He is currently fostered with two other dogs, who he loves, and a range of other animals. 99% of the time Gus has perfect recall and walks exceptionally well off lead. But occasionally those fluffy foster cats or cotton wool on legs are a little too tempting and he needs to have a closer look. He has never attempted to grab them, just can’t say no to that kelpie herding instinct.
Gus had one requirement. He would really really love to be able to swim in his new home. Gus is not contained by fencing in his foster home and every day he disappears down to the dam where he will paddle back and forth for hours at a time. He is the energiser bunny in a rescue dog disguise.
If you are considering Augustus please note that he will jump houseyard fences if he feels that you have not provided him with enough stimulation on that particular day. So would be best suited to a house with an enclosed dog yard if on a house block.
Gus’ Mum was with us for a couple of years until she found her perfect home. She required medication in able to relax and be the happy contented dog we knew she could be. Gus inherited these traits from his mum and as a result is on life long (inexpensive) medication that helps to calm his overzealous tendencies. We are very happy for you to discuss this further with our vet who volunteers for us.
We cannot speak highly enough of Gussy and he will make a fantastic best friend for a very special someone.
Medical notes
Receiving fluoxetine as an anti anxiety medication

Please send our friendly volunteers an email and we will reply with our application form. This ensures that we are matching you with the animal to suit your family and lifestyle. We can then arrange a meet and greet for you (and existing pets) to spend some time with the pet and see if you think they will fit into your life.
If you decide to adopt:
- payment is made
- a quick property check is conducted (we love our rescue animals and go through a lot to find them new homes, so we need to ensure their new home suits them)
-then you can welcome your new pet into your life!
We have a 2 week trial period so if this pet is not the perfect fit for you we will supply you with a full refund within the trail period. We will also take the adopted pet back at any stage should you be unable to care for them any longer.
