About Shaggy ~ 10yo Poodle x boy (on trial 17/9/2017)
Shaggy is a calm and independent 10 year old Poodle x boy. He is looking for a quiet life where he gets to go for a walk then hang around at home... preferably on the couch in a nice warm sunny spot!
Shaggy appears to be friendly towards most dogs and children. He's currently in foster care with an 8 year old boy and a 7 year old Maltese cross. Shaggy just loves a cuddle on the couch and a pat.
Shaggy has come from a home where he was not allowed inside. He's quickly learnt that life on the inside is much better especially when there is a doggy door to go in and out of at his leisure. Please be mindful that he is still learning the finer points of life inside and you'll need to remind him to go outside at regular times for toilet training. He still needs encouragement and further training.
Shaggy will sit for a treat and loves to go for a walk!
He has a low maintenance poodle coat but please be mindful that he will need regular professional grooming to keep it in good condition. He seems to enjoy a nice warm bath.
Shaggy seems to be susceptible to some ear problems and regular cleaning of his ears will be needed to keep an eye on this.
As Shaggy is an older dog, he would prefer a quiet life with older children or a retired couple where he is allowed to be inside on the couch in the sun. He would certainly prefer a family that is home most of the time.
Shaggy sleeps inside either in his basket in the lounge room or on the couch on a blanket. He sleeps right through the night without a peep.
If you think that you can offer a loving home to Shaggy, please contact Donna at trudgetty@hotmail.com. Shaggy is located in the Newcastle area, NSW and is not available for adoption interstate.
Shaggy's adoption fee is $150 because of his senior status and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
