About Harry ~ 7yo Maltese boy (On Trial 23/9/17)
Harry is a 7 year old Maltese x boy who just wants love and pats... and then more love and more pats. He is looking for a soft couch and a nice home where he would be allowed inside most of the time.
Harry is friendly with older children (his foster carer has an eight year old boy) and his long time dog-buddy Shaggy who is a ten year old poodle cross. Unfortunately, Harry has shown that he doesn't like other dogs therefore Harry would need to go to a home where he is either the only dog in the house or he would need to be adopted together with his dog buddy, Shaggy.
Harry has come from a home where he was not allowed inside. He's quickly learnt that life on the inside is much better especially when there is a doggy door to go in and out of at his leisure. Please be mindful that he is still learning the finer points of life inside and you'll need to remind him to go outside at regular times for toilet training. He still needs encouragement and further training.
Harry will sit for a treat and loves to go for a walk!
He has a low maintenance coat but please be mindful that he may need the occasional professional grooming to keep it in good condition. He seems to enjoy a nice warm bath.
It appears that Harry never went on many car rides and therefore this can be a bit of an anxious moment for him, but we found that if someone sits in the backseat and gives him a cuddle then he is fine.
As Harry is an older dog, he would prefer a quieter life with older children or a retired couple where he is allowed to be inside on the couch in the sun. He would certainly prefer a family that is home most of the time, but he has quickly adapted to our routine of coming and going constantly.
Harry sleeps inside either in his basket in the lounge room or on the couch on a blanket. He normally sleeps right through the night without a peep but seems to get disturbed and may have the odd growl on a windy night.
If you think that you can offer a loving home to Harry, please contact Donna on trudgetty@hotmail.com. Harry is located in the Newcastle area, NSW and is not available for adoption interstate.
Harry's adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
