About Bikkie ~ Greyhound (on trial 3/11/2017)
Bikkie is a 2.5yo greyhound girl. She is exactly how life should be: mostly sweet but with a little savoury, so you can appreciate just how sweet she is. She will greet you with a huge greyhound smile every morning and chatter away when she is happy and contented.
As Bikkie is still young she still has a fair amount of bounce, interspersed with a lot of sleeping. She loves people, exploring new places and going on walks. She only needs a daily 20 minute walk to keep her happy.
Bikkie adores humans (adults and children). She regularly comes up for a cuddle and loves a full body contact snuggle in bed where she likes to place her head next to yours. A little snoring like a pig occurs which usually doesn't last long as you are too busy laughing at her cute a noise it is.
Bikkie loves toys and will regularly get a toy and spend time playing with it. She even enjoys playing fetch, when the mood strikes her. She is very food orientated and learns quite quickly. Canine puzzle activity are thoroughly enjoyable, she likes to tackle the challenge and will sniff out every last morsels, then fall into a deep sleep. A suitable puzzle activity will keep her entertained while you are out. She gets on with other dogs, small and large beautifully. She is toilet trained and has had no accidents in the house.
On leash Bikkie does need some work. She only pulls at the start of a walk, however she does zip zag a bit, we are working on it but with a little one on one training it will be quickly rectified.

Currently Bikkie lives with 5 other dogs including 4 greyhounds and an mixed breed. Greyhounds are extremely lazy preferring to snooze the day away on the lounge. A 15-20 minute walk per day will make Bikkie extremely happy and contented. If in a rush a 10 min walk and sniff will keep him happy. Greyhounds are a little different from your average dog, so reading up about greyhounds is advised and appreciated.
The perfect home for Bikkie would be somewhere where she can be a important member of the family. A family with older children (10 and up) and a stay at home/ part time working parent or an suitable canine friend would be ideal.
For more information or to meet Bikkie, please contact her foster carer Misty on 0434 373 422 or email mistyem@tpg.com.au. Bikkie is in foster care in Wallsend, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Bikkie's adoption fee is $200 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. Bikkies new family will also be provided with a martingale collar, muzzle, warm coat and ongoing support if needed.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
