About Big Bird
Big Bird is a very intelligent, affectionate fellow who loves to involve himself in everything you're doing and doesn't like being left out of anything! He is energetic and highly strung and needs a home with very experienced owners who have an understanding of his breed. Big Bird has come from a very loving home however he has developed some insecurities, mainly fear of abandonment, which will require ongoing management for him to work through. He is receiving help from a behaviourist and is responding marvellously. Provided he has had enough exercise, his foster carer can leave him home alone with another dog with no problem. Big Bird really needs a home with at least one other large, well balanced dog who can show him the ropes as he looks to other dogs for guidance and learns very quickly from them. He would be best suited to a home with plenty of space for him to gallop around and an owner who can provide him with sufficient mental stimulation to calm his overactive mind. He is house trained and loves going anywhere in the car. Big Bird is a beautiful, loving dog but he is not for the faint hearted as he requires a considerable investment of time, effort and energy to reach his full potential, which is absolutely wonderful. He is NOT suited to a home with cats or other small pets. He would also benefit more in a home where the owners had as much time for him as possible, so a home without young kids would be ideal. Big Bird is still slightly underweight at approx 35 kilos.
