About “Henry”, Constant Companion. Melbourne
Henry is a big doofus! A lovely boy who has already managed to get this head stuck in the garden hedge. An absolute joy to be around due to his infectious happiness, he loves playing with his foster mates and by himself, getting treats, training, walks - and just life in general.
Henrys favourite toy is the orange kettle!
Henry is a magnificent 36 kilos, with a smart white blaze and white paws. Henry has bursts of energy, but mostly just likes to lay around. He loves to play with his housemates and can be a little over-excited. If you have a playful dog he will play all day, but is quiet if the other dog doesn't want to play. He is submissive in play - no aggression, but can get over-excited and then do zoomies all over the house. It is funny to watch - his joy is infectious.
Like all greyhounds, he thrives on being an indoor dog, relaxing on the couch, or sneaking into the bedroom at night to make sure his foster carer is still there (but never jumping on the bed – good boy!). Henry likes car trips if you help him get in, and travels quietly. He enjoys meeting new people but sometimes gets overwhelmed when he’s out and about, so he needs someone who’ll help him build his confidence and doesn't mind just waiting while the joggers pass.
When Henry meets other dogs he is fine - but when he first sees them he can be a little scared. Henry does not like to be around dogs off leash, so off leash parks are not suitable for him. He absolutely needs doggy company as he loves his doggy friends and is happiest when with them in his home.
Henry would love a big garden as he is definitely a dog that needs to be able to do zoomies.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
