About Matey
Its a BOY
14 weeks old and already 12KG
Shepherd x Staghound is our guess, his long legs hint that he is going to grow into a big boy.
Currently fostered with a 2 year old female, Matey is confident and playful boy, able to tear around for hours without tiring.
Highly energetic he would suit a big backyard and daily walks/training. He loves a game of fetch or tug of war and is starting to become a snuggler.
He is currently establishing boundaries and if housed with another dog, a mature, well-mannered animal would be the best example as he copies behaviour.
Speaking of boundaries, you will need to set firm ones, as he is currently testing out what he can get away with.
He has been hungry as a very young pup and came to us a little skinny, he can resource guard his precious things (food, toys, people) but with persistence he is learning to relax. Still being house-trained, he occasionally has accidents as he is learning to hold on until outside. He sleeps through the night and has a few naps during the day and can go 6 hours overnight without outdoor toileting.
Crate trained, he will put himself to bed if tuckered out. You will need chew toys if you want your furniture untouched and mental stimulation as he is a quick learner who gets bored/destructive. He does require supervision/interaction as he has just started "landscaping" gardens.
He has learnt some strong basics in under 3 weeks SIT, DROP, NO, YES, GO WEE, GOOD BOY
Although early days, he has been socialised with a lot of new people and situations and has taken it all in his stride.
Recently immunised he is now ready to be trained at puppy school after receiving his booster shot at the end of August.
