About Dodger
Okay so I'm not sure why I'm writing this because you probably haven't stopped looking at how cute I am....
... oh so you're actually reading it now? Right then.
HI! I'm Dodger and I'm pretty much the cutest little guy you could hope to meet. Just look at this face. Seriously though, I'm also really amazing - cuddly and friendly and smoochy and sooky and friendly and playful and all the things you want a puppy to be. I am living with some other dogs in my foster home and they're pretty cool so if you have another dog that would be okay with me.
In the home I was in before I came into foster care there were people who shouted a lot and it was scary, so sometimes if you are shouting or the other dogs are barking a lot I get a bit over-whelmed and might hide. But I'm very quickly getting used to being somewhere safe and happy so I'm not doing that so much now.
The most important thing to know about me is that I am SMART. I don't want to sound big headed or anything, but this is pretty crucial. I come from a background of working dogs and I have a very quick wit. I am going to need a new family that is seriously committed to training me - not just a few puppy classes, I need you to teach me all sorts of skills and tricks and NEVER stop doing it (old dogs CAN learn new tricks dontcha know?!) I will need to be physically active as well as mentally stimulated. Ideally I would go to a home with someone who has had working breeds before or who really wants to do something with their dog - I am much more than just a companion, I will be your partner in crime. Maybe we could do agility or something together?
The nice people at SAFE think that there will be lots of you wonderful people wanting to offer me a home (I hope so!) This is something important they want me to tell you - IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ME, PLEASE MAKE INITIAL CONTACT BY E-MAIL ONLY. PHONE CONTACT WILL NOT BE RESPONDED TO.
PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO safeavonvalley@gmail.com AND INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- photos of your yard and fencing
- details about who else lives in your home (people and animals)
-information about how you are going to meet my needs and keep me physically and mentally fit
Adopters will NOT be chosen on a first come, first served basis - this is all about finding the most suitable home for me.
Okay I think I've told you all the important stuff I had to. I'm going back to napping now!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
