About Mimi... great with kids, dogs and cats
Mimi is a beautiful 10 months old Maltese cross, she is weighing in at only 3.5kg, but that doesn't mean that she is just a lap dog. Although Mimi loves to cuddle with you and to receive a tummy rub, she also thinks that she is a little kelpie and loves her daily walks. She tries to imitate everything her furry foster sister is doing including chasing the ball and playing tug-a-war. She is also great with cats and children.
Mimi will need a home, where she has access to indoors all day, as she frets being left alone outside. She is fine being left alone inside when you are out, but would be best suited to a home where someone is home a lot or with a friendly dog or cat as companion. So, if you are looking for a little dog, that loves going for daily adventures and wants to be part of your daily life, please fill out an expression of interest form on www.startingoverdogrescue.org.au
Medical notes
Mimi has had major surgery due to a condition called Perthes Disease. She has undergone a femoral head and neck excision arthroplasty two months ago and is recovering well from this. The joint created is called a false joint, but she can fully use her leg now in everyday life. It can take up to a year for the muscle to grow and gain mass, therefore at present her leg can still get tired and she will skip occasionally to rest her leg muscles. This doesn't affect her and she can play and run like any other young dog would do.
