About Morty ~ German Shepherd x Lab (On Trial 7/10/17)
Hi there! Meet Morty, he is a 6 month old German Shepherd x Labrador boy. Morty is a gorgeous, loving, energetic and playful little man.
Morty is great with other dogs and children. He loves to have a run around with his foster brothers and sister but also loves to curl up and have a snuggle and smooch. He is Black and Tan in colouring and seems to present with more of the Shepherd features.
He is toilet trained and his obedience training is coming along but will need some further training once he finds his forever family. He can use a dog door and comes and goes as he pleases. Morty will grow up to be a medium to large size dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
Morty is an inside dog and likes to sleep close to you of a night time. Currently he sleeps on the foot of his foster Mum and Dad’s bed, but next to you on his own bed will be fine.
Morty would be best suited to a family who has another dog as a play mate and although he is good with children he does like to jump (being a puppy, we are working on that) so a family with older children would be best.
He will need a yard to run around in to burn off all that puppy energy so please do not apply if you cannot provide that for Mr Morty. He will also require 6ft fencing to keep him nice and safe and secure as he is an adventurous puppy.
Morty’s brother Diego is also available for adoption.
If you think you can provide Morty with the perfect forever home or have some questions please feel free to contact his foster mum, Lauren by email to auenewcastle@gmail.com. Morty is in care in the Newcastle area, NSW.
Morty's adoption fee is $600 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
