About Pip ~ Mini Foxie x Blue Heeler
Hi I'm Pip and I'm a 5 year old Blue Heeler x Mini Foxie boy. Everyone thinks I'm a puppy but I'm full grown and weigh only about 12kg. I'm a shy yet happy little special needs boy who is looking for a special single person or couple to call my own.
I was first rescued as a young pup and I've got some compulsive behaviours which is one of the reasons I'm so special. My legs are quite straight so I have an "army parade" walk and will scrape my toenails off if I walk too frequently on concrete. I love daily walks and prefer to walk on the grass to help my toenails. I am great off lead once I'm bonded with you - I'm a perfect little Heeler who will walk at your heels everywhere you go. I like to pace - it's one of my compulsive habits and I like to eat decorative rocks or concrete if I'm left too long on my own (I'll need a yard without decorative pebble landscaping).
I'm happy to learn and love treats however it takes me a little longer to learn than some dogs. I would love a new family with no kids or older teenagers as I'm too shy for little kids, I stand behind your legs when strangers or kids want to meet or pat me. I'm never mean to them, I just like my own space - I'm happy to sniff others or "touch" their hand with my nose or take a treat in my own time.
I'm dog social as I was raised with dozens of other dogs of all breeds and sizes - I prefer dogs who are friendly and over bearing as I'm quite small. I would love a canine companion in my new home - preferably a small to medium friendly adult. Perhaps another male heeler, Jack Russell or fox terrier mix like myself would be a good match. I'm in care with two dogs - a senior boxer cross whom I adore, and my little sister who is mentally and physically handicapped. My sister and I were recently reunited after 2.5 years apart and unfortunately we aren't getting along great - my love for her is unrequited and she gets upset with my love. I won't suit being an only dog as I'm too social. I adore cats (I live with 5) and I will try to get them to play with me.
I am a great little guard dog who will alert you to visitors or if strangers around. I'm used to being an inside dog and sleeping inside on the couch. If you're inside then that's where I prefer to be - I'd prefer a family with someone home more often than out. I would suit a semi-retired couple or someone who can work from home or take me to work so I'm with my favourite person in the world - you!
Due to my shyness and special needs my new family will need to meet me a few times before I'll be ready to be adopted. I'm a loyal little man and once I know you I'm a bouncy little goofball.
For more information on me please contact Jo on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . I am in foster care near Gosford, (NSW Central Coast).
My adoption fee is $350 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Pip has stiff legs when walking which results in him scraping his toenails on hard surfaces. He has some compulsive behaviours throughout his lifetime - he will pace, and eat pebbles or concrete if left alone too long .
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
