About Sammie
I'm trying a new home to see if i like it. Sammie was surrendered but unfortunately his basic needs have not been taken care of during his short life. Sammie came to us with ears that have been chronically infected and obviously never treated as his ear canals have all but closed over and are only just big enough to allow the vet to take a swab to see what bugs were growing in them. Fortunately he was able to retrieve a sample and two bugs were diagnosed so sammie's ears are now being treated with antibiotic drops and cleaned out daily. Sammie's foster carer also noticed that his vision is impaired and after consultation with the vet it was decided to take sammie straight to a wonderful doggie opthalmologist who was stunned to find that sammie does not have a third eyelid in either eye! this prevents sammie's eye's from getting the protection and lubrication that is needed to make his eyes function normally and sadly, becuase of this problem, sammie is suffering with dry eye and has lost quite a lot of vision from both eyes. Despite all of this, sammie is a very friendly, happy, playful and joyful little pug to have around. He especially loves children and will sit with them for ages giving kisses and getting all of the attention that he deserves. Sammie gets on with the other pug in his foster home and instigates play whenever he can. He loves his food and, like all pugs, leaves any broom or vacuum cleaner for dead in the cleaning department! we feel that as sammie is such a beautiful little soul we would like to make his life as comfortable as possible so that he can go to a new home eventually. He is now on expensive eye medication optimmune, lacrilube and artificial tears as often as his foster carer can put them into his eyes. We are hoping that this will kick start sammie's tear production and make him much more comfortable. The vet is also going to operate on sammie's eyes in order to make them more comfortable and he is also going to have his ear canals opened up again surgically to allow the air to get in and to better treat and eliminate the bugs in his ears completely. Sammie is also having his back x-rayed as he does have a rather funny little walk. Sammie cannot be made available for adoption until treatment on his eyes and ears has been completed so if you would like to help sammie, please email denise for more information. Sammie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and with nsw local council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside nsw. If you would like more information on sammie or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using adoption enquiry as your subject heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www. Paws. Com. Au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption. Listed 29 october
