“Jim”, Unbridled Affection. Melbourne
I love to give Cuddles
Large Male Greyhound Dog
- Rescue group:
- Gumtree Greys
- PetRescue ID:
Sleek, solid Jim reminds his foster carers of a big black horse! He lopes along like he owns the room, and has an impressive presence wherever he goes. His handsome face can be commanding one minute, and completely adorable with a heart-melting smile the next.
Jim needs plenty of regular exercise, but settles down easily after a run or chase of his ball. He walks beautifully on lead, and has a natural talent for staying close at heel. He’s learning lots of commands, including now being 100% toilet trained, “bring/drop” (toys), “no” (especially around food!) and being “gentle” with other creatures. He’s curious about small dogs, and not recommended with cats. Jim’s likely to be fine with children who are old enough to cope with some occasional playful mouthing (a typical greyhound trait). He can be mildly sooky when left alone, so would like plenty of company in his forever home. He’d be pleased to be adopted with his sister Rosie, or separately so that he can play more with his toys.
Jim’s extremely fond of pats and cuddles, and will tie himself into knots to get them in the right spot! His exuberance and excitement is infectious, and you can't help but laugh when he falls all over himself to get attention and love. Jim’s a big ball of energy and unbridled affection, who just wants to be into everything, and feel safe and cared for with the people he loves.

All our dogs are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped.
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
