About Shelby
Shelby has only just come in to care & we don't know a lot about her.
She was left at country pound & her owners did not come for her.
She has had some training, she knows to sit & stay, but she does pull when walking on a lead, so some practise is necessary. Shelby has an excitable personality, mainly because she prefers to be with people than other dogs.
She has such an unusual coloured coat, she is black , but has a lot of gold flecks through it, very pretty, especially in the sunlight, when she actually glitters.
Shelby is best suited to some one with experience with dogs, as though she loves people, she is best kept as an only dog, or (when slowly introduced to) a male dog. I believe in her previous life she was kept behind a fence, with little or no interaction or socialisation with other dogs. She is slowly gaining confidence in herself & realising not all other dogs will give her a hard time. With training she is becoming much more relaxed & paying attention to commands, especially when treats are involved! Shelby will make some one the perfect companion if just given the chance!
Medical notes
She appears to be a healthy happy girl. She has some anxiety issues when confronted with dogs on the other side of a fence, but she is learning that they are not going to hurt her & its better to have a treat, than to bark back at them!
Adoption details
If you would like to adopt a country pet there are a few requirements.
A chat with the foster carer is the first step to determine if the pet is the right one for you and your lifrstyle. A yard check while having a meet and greet is the next step and if all is satisfactory for all parties the adoption can go ahead.
The perfect home for each individual pet is essential, and the decision about which new home the pet goes to is made by the foster carer.
