About India
India is a very beautiful girl with great charm and superior intelligence. She has a light and athletic build. She is quite a tall dog, but weighs in at only 18 kg. While she has a high exercise requirement, she has a lovely calm nature, and is no problem to take for a big off-lead run, as she keeps her wits about her, remains in range of her carer and has excellent recall. She has just started to walk on the lead and does that very nicely too. She is really lovely company around the house and has a very serene and companiable presence.
India is great with people of all ages and will confidently meet and greet humans. She also loves the company of other dogs. She plays robust games of chasey and wrestling with the bigger dogs, but also adjusts to play sweetly with the puppy. When out and about she greets other dogs nicely and shows her natural good manners.
India came to us after being impounded in Tennant Creek. We think that there is some dingo in the mix, and also some heeler and kelpie. Having said that she doesn't have any unmanageable dingo traits. She will open unlocked doors and gates, but she hasn't shown a tendency to jump climb or dig. She prefers to be left outside when humans are not home. She is not a noisy dog, but will have a howl occasionally for a couple of minutes.
In the right home, where India can be kept safe with good fencing and get lots of interaction and stimulating walks and runs, she will make a great friend and companion for a very lucky person.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia. India's adoption fee includes shipping to her new home. India is currently in foster care in Elliott NT. While she is available for interstate adoption, dingo hybrids are not permitted to be kept in domestic environments as pets in Queensland or South Australia.
Medical notes
India will be wormed and heart-worm treated again just before leaving the Territory. She is otherwise fit and healthy and ready to go.
