About Bailey ~ Tibetan Spaniel, senior (trial 27/7/17)
“Senior male seeks companion for romantic walks during the day and cuddling on the sofa at night.”
Bailey is a 10yo, purebred, Tibetan Spaniel looking for a special person or couple with which to share a comfortable retirement. Please don’t judge him by his age. Bailey has been vet checked and is very healthy, has a strong heart and good joints and a recent dental cleaning. He will most likely live to at least 15 so he still has many good years to enjoy his new home. He weighs 6kgs.
He doesn’t require lots of exercise but loves a daily walk and he is an absolute delight to take for a walk. He walks beautifully on lead without pulling or stopping all the time.
Bailey is very sweet and affectionate, likes to sit on your lap or next to you, and wouldn’t mind a belly rub if you are offering.
He is very much an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, to sleep inside. He is not a nuisance barker and will nap while you’re away and greet you happily when you return. He is very well housetrained. He can use a doggy door. He doesn't do any male "marking" around the garden and even squats to pee most of the time.
Bailey’s crowning glory is his magnificent soft coat that is lovely to stroke and brush. He is a gorgeous reddish brown with a white ruffle on his neck and chest. He is low shedding at this time of year but will shed in the warmer months. I’ve bathed him in the laundry tub and he was very easy to bath and he enjoyed the towelling off afterwards.
Bailey is used to living with other dogs and gets along well with the three other small dogs that he is living with in foster care, but he'd also be very happy as an only dog. He is good with children visitors but he wouldn’t like to live with them as he prefers a quiet life.
Bailey was surrendered to rescue after his elderly owner went into a nursing home.
Bailey needs a home where there is someone who doesn't work long hours. He could be an only dog if he gets lots of time with people, but he could also live with another placid, small dog.
He is just a quiet, well behaved little boy who will be a perfect companion. We look forward to finding him a home where he will receive attention, walks and love.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
