Where do we begin? Baxter is everything you want a puppy to be, and more! This little bundle of joy is happy, playful, friendly, confident, inquisitive and sociable. He is in foster care with 3 adult dogs and he just loves them, plus he's wonderful with kids. Baxter loves to play with people and his toys and he LOVES being outdoors, exploring the yard.
Baxter's life began in a tiny community in the central desert where life was harsh and he didn't have many opportunities ahead of him. He was picked on by other dogs and some kids were throwing rocks at him when a lovely lady intervened and saved him, arranging to get him all the way to Perth so he can find a safe, happy, loving family to call his own.
Because of his background, we don't have a very sure idea of what breed he is. His mum resembled a jack russel and was about the size of a cocker spaniel. He has quite long front legs and tiny ears like a shar pei. So who knows! We expect that Baxter will probably be a small to medium dog, maybe around 12kg at full size - but please be prepared for him to possibly be bigger or smaller than expected.
Baxter is doing really well in foster care - his toilet training is coming along nicely and he is learning to come to his name. He's a happy, easy-going puppy but of course he is only a baby so he needs a loving family and a stable home where he will learn a routine and get lots of attention. It would be beneficial if someone in his new family is going to be at home a fair bit in the beginning to help him get settled in and continue his training.
We strongly advise Baxter's new family to take him to puppy kindy and then on to further training. This is not just about setting him up to be a good canine citizen but will build on all-important socialisation skills and form a strong bond between him and his family.
If you have been waiting to add a super cute little ball of fuzz to your family, then Baxter might be just what you are looking for. Get in touch via email today!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
