About Touza
Touza is available for foster care or adoption.
Touza is our long termer. He hasnât had the breaks. The best way to explain Touza is to say a nice woman who looked after him kennels last year wrote and asked if she could visit as she still thought about him. This is the second time this has happened. He has that effect on anyone who gets to know him.
Some people are frightened initially by that bulldog face â we think it must be the white look, as a similar dog with a brown/black face everyone automatically thinks is sweet. But it doesnât take long for people to know what a wuss he is.
Touza would probably be best at this stage to be an only dog â he has lived with other dogs before and wants to play with them when he knows them but he can still be too boisterous He has been a little slow at picking up doggy manners but we are confident that deep down he would love the right doggy friend who understands him.
He will benefit from a person with big dog experience who understands that type of dog that comes under high reactivity/selective intelligence. Yes, we all know people like that. He has learnt to react first and think later and this is why he is benefitting from regular training sessions to change that behavior.
Touza is house trained, can be left inside without being destructive, loves television, and yes he snores. And he is SO affectionate.
If you are interested in foster caring Touza but donât want to put the time into doing his training walks, thatâs fine. We would arrange a separate walker for him. We would be particularly interested in anyone living in the western suburbs close to his current trainer, but not a necessity.

All dogs that come into the care of Victorian Dog Rescue are tested for heart worm.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adoptersâ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
