About Arthur
Everyone loves Arthur for his cheerful nature, and the energetic way he embraces life. He loves to play with the big dogs and is able to rough-house with the best of them even though he barely comes up to their knees! Long after they have conked out and are draped around the house sleeping, he is still trotting around looking for some action or playing with his toys.
While Arthur looks soft and cuddly he is a wriggly one and I rarely get a lap cuddle unless he is ready for a sleep, in which case he does enjoy a pre-sleep belly rub and to curl up on or next to me. He sleeps on the bed overnight and really enjoys the body warmth and gets through the night very well without having to toilet until the morning. Surprisingly, given his energetic nature, he really enjoys a cuddly sleep-in in the morning.
Arthur loves his walks and is currently being walked twice a day. Most of the time he is off lead and exploring with Big Lucky, an old border collie he has attached himself to. He knows his name though and comes back when he is called. He keeps up really well with the big dogs, with his little legs going like the clappers. He is really great on the lead to, and just trots alongside on a loose lead. If we run into any kids he loves to go over and say hi, get a pat and wag his tail furiously.
Arthur has been allowed to jump up in his previous life, and he is just learning to sit for a pat, and picking up the new rules quickly. He also can yap when he is alarmed or excited, but the more relaxed and comfortable he becomes, the less he does that. He needs a home where his family will be disciplined and consistent with him to help him be the best boy he can be.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Arthur's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. He is currently in foster care in Elliott community, 2 hours north of Tennant Creek.
Medical notes
Arthur will be wormed and heart-worm treated again just before leaving the Territory. He should be de-wormed fortnightly for another month and have at least 1 further heart-worm treatment after he arrives down south, before reverting to a normal worming regime.
Adoption details
We request that prospective adopters email us with an initial enquiry. We will forward an application form. On receipt of the application form, we will make phone contact to discuss the adoption. We try hard to match the dog to the person, ultimately looking for the best fit for the dog. Shipping fees may or may not be included in the adoption fee, and this will be stated in the pet's profile.
