On Hold
About Marley ~ Border Collie x (on trial 9/7/2017)
WARNING.... cuteness overload! This is Marley, a 9 week old, male Border Collie x (possibly Staffy or Bull Arab) and he is truly a divine little creature.
If you had to describe Marley in one word it would be “sook”. If good looks are your thing, this boy has it in spades. His 4 white feet and white collar look as if they were painted on and he has a little paint dipped tail to boot. Topping that off are his spectacular grey eyes.
Marley was taken from his mother way too early and was in a terrible state when we got him. As a result he is nervous about just about everything. He constantly looks to his big foster brothers for reassurance and therefore for Marley, it will be a non negotiable that he must be rehomed with another dog. He is learning very quickly that the world is a fun place and you could fill the internet with clips of him frolicking as only puppies do, chasing leaves and butterflies and falling over his own gangly legs.
Once his vaccinations are sorted he will need LOTS of socialisation and exposure to different sites, sounds and smells. A family who are willing to put lots of time in to reassure him and include him in all aspects of their life would be great. Puppy school will be a must for this little dude to build confidence and a bond with his owner. When he’s tired, he just snuggles in and goes to sleep, but he does not like to be left alone, another reason for having a canine companion.
Marley will need a good size yard, secure fencing and gates and to sleep inside. He also loves to hide in a kennel for his day sleeps. I would highly recommend crate training for this pup too, so he has a safe place to retreat to. Marley will be a beautiful family dog and grow up to be a medium to large size dog. He will not be ready for his new home until he is 10 weeks old.
As Marley is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's approximately 5 months old.
Marley is currently in care in Port Stephens, just north of Newcastle. To enquire about Marley or apply to adopt him, please contact his foster carer Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com
Marley's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
