About JJ ~ Great Dane x, 18 mo male (on trial 9/7/17)
Meet JJ, a beautiful 18 month old Great Dane x. This tall, dark and handsome man is a big sook that loves nothing more than cuddling up with his owners. He has a gorgeous smooth, shiny coat that is like black velvet.
JJ is great with other dogs. He is in foster care with 2 Rottweilers, has shown no sign of aggression and loves to play! He is a big pup and loves to chase the other dogs around the yard, play tug of war and is very good at fetching a tennis ball.
He has very short hair so will need a nice warm coat in winter. He won’t shed much and is “quick dry” after a bath.
After playtime is over JJ is happy to be outside soaking up the sun during the day and he loves coming inside at night to spend time with his family. He has never had an accident while inside. He is a quick learner and has come a long way since being in foster care. He knows the rules and which furniture is off limits, however occasionally he still tries to use his charm to bend the rules.
Being a big strong dog, he will need to go to a home that is committed to continue his training. He walks well on a lead and harness but as he is big, strong dog he will need some further training as he does tend to pull a bit. He is learning manners but sometimes he still gets so happy to see people, he forgets his manners and jumps up on them. He is close to 6 foot tall when he jumps up so this is not a behaviour that we encourage. He is listed as a Great Dane x but he looks mostly pure Dane to us.
If you think you could offer JJ a loving, caring and happy forever home, please contact his foster carer Amanda by email amandalloyd83@hotmail.com. JJ is located in Charlestown NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
JJ's adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
