About “Trixie”, Goofily Beautiful. Melbourne
Like most greyhounds, Trixie is the perfect balance of goofiness and elegance. With her doe-eyed face and soft, fawn coat, she’s the picture of loveliness – but then she’ll fall asleep with her tongue hanging out and start snoring! Trix is a real sweetheart who loves being loved, and likes to nibble gently on whatever has earned her affection, whether it’s a toy, another dog, or a favourite human.
Although Trixie’s favourite pastime is snuggling on the couch, she’s also bold and curious, and loves a daily walk (or preferably two!) She’s a smart cookie who will be happy in a home with lots to see and explore. Trix is learning quickly, and obeys commands like “sit” or “off the bed”, although is still a little forceful around food. Being a sturdy girl, Trix is best suited to older children who can enjoy some boisterous play. She’s fine with well-mannered small dogs, but needs some practice staying calm around yappy dogs who push her buttons. Trix is not cat-friendly.
Trixie enjoys the company of the greyhound-cross in her foster home, but is also likely to be fine as an only dog (provided she is not left on her own for more than 4 hours a day), with a healthy dose of love from her humans. In return, she can offer a wagging tail, plenty of kisses, and a lifetime of hilarity and affection.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
