About Arlo ~ red cattle dog x ~ 1yo (on trial 7/07/17
“All the single tradies... All the single tradies...put your hands up!”. Meet Arlo, a 1 yo, male, red cattle dog crossed with a larger breed, possibly ridgeback. He stands approx 70cms tall and I’m guessing around 40kgs. We will also consider any “Farmer wants a wife contestants” who live on a property or suburbanites with an active lifestyle. Laughter aside, this boy needs a special human to take him on. Basically, you will need to be strong and an experienced dog owner.
Arlo was a private surrender and has been in care for quite some time through no fault of his own. We really want to see this gorgeous boy find his forever home. He loves people and wants to be a companion dog. He has a beautiful soft coat and loves a good cuddle. He’s very good at fetch.
Sadly, Arlo has not yet had a carer who has given him the training and socialisation that every dog needs. But he can “sit”, “shake hands”, “drop” and “wait” for the OK to eat. With a little time spent doing positive reinforcement training Arlo will become the most awesome dog that he can be.
Due to his size, Arlo will not be rehomed with small children but teenagers would be fine. He will need a good-sized yard with secure fencing and daily exercise. I think he is the sort of dog who will bond strongly with one person and would probably prefer to be an only dog. What you will get in return is unwavering loyalty and a buddy for life.
For more information or to meet Arlo, please email Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com. Arlo is currently in care in Port Stephens, NSW, just north of Newcastle. He is available for adoption interstate.
Arlo's adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
