About Khan ~ Husky x ~ On Trial 10/10/17
Introducing Khan - a gorgeous, friendly Siberian Husky x . We are unsure of Khan's exact breed mix - possibly German Shepherd with his huge radar ears, sleek coat and his goofy, floppy personality. Khan is a real tail wagger , he's a happy boy who wears a smile that will you make you smile too. He is microchipped as 5 years old but we believe he may be a lot younger - perhaps only a couple of years old.
Khan is wonderful when meeting new people - he enjoys making new friends and will develop close relationships quickly. He's playful and just a little bit dopey which adds to his charm. He lopes and galavants around the yard like a big puppy and will flop himself at your feet or put his head on your lap for a pat. If you stop patting him he'll tap you with his paw to ask for more.
Khan walks nicely on lead and would enjoy a daily walk - he doesn't have a lot of stamina so he's not going to win any world records for distance however as long as he's with you he's happy with that. He can be a bit of an ambler with all the time in the world .
Khan enjoys treats and is gentle (and a little uncoordinated) when taking them. Being a young boy he still needs some work on his basic training - but he is willing to learn and loves praise so would thrive with further training. He is a big bouncy boy and can jump and mouth gently during play but he does respond well to fair and positive correction. Due to his size we'd suggest he's best with older, dog confident kids or teenagers.
Khan is in foster care with over 100 other dogs in a boarding facility. He can be overly stimulated with so many other dogs and isn't a fan of male dogs so we would prefer he be adopted into a single dog family so that his own training can be the focus. Khan's perfect home would be one with a fenced and safe yard where he is allowed inside when his family is home and where he can sleep inside. He is a real people-dog so he would love to be included in family activities and outings.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
